MÁS FUERTES JUNTOS: BUILDING A LEGACY FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS
The theme of the conference “Mas Fuertes Juntos”, stronger together, was chosen to demonstrate a foundational aspect of the Latino community: that we are dedicated to each others success.
Only 6.9% of physicians are Latinos, despite representing 18.9% of the total U.S population. This conference is allows for intergeneration mentorship of future Latino physicians because while we are each on our own journey, we are never alone, and we are pulling up the next generation with us.
Impact
In the 39-year history of the Latino Medical Student Association West Regional Conference, Midwestern University has become the first Osteopathic Medical school to host the event.
A total of 265 participated: High school students, Undergraduates, Medical students, Residents, and Healthcare professionals gathered to further the cause of Latinos in medicine.
We like to thank the countless students, faculty, and staff of Midwestern University whose behind-the-scenes work made this conference possible.
